was designed to bring visitors a joyful experience behind every digital door that leads to each new section of the site.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with multi-disciplinary, independently owned design studio

to bring this vision to life. Leading the project was Pentagram’s sound and experiential design visionary

, who we previously collaborated with on the

back in 2016 for that year’s Moogfest.

With a passion for Moog synthesizers and the brand's legacy, Yuri was the perfect partner to celebrate the Model D's cultural impact. He and the hardworking teams at Pentagram and Counterpoint helped create an experience that allows visitors all over the world to discover the deep history and sound of the Moog world.

“Working on this web project for the past two years has been an incredible journey, as Moog has always been my top fascination. Their synthesizers' special sound and beautiful design hold a special place in my heart. I still vividly remember our first discussion years ago where we envisioned a web experience that celebrates the Minimoog Model D. Our goal was to craft a tightly interactive and fun experience that would capture the essence of Dr. Bob Moog and his team’s groundbreaking innovation.

Throughout the project, the collaboration has been tight-knit and extremely enjoyable. We have exchanged numerous ideas on how to make the introduction of this beautiful innovation both fun and captivating. I am grateful to everyone involved in this project for their hard work and dedication.

I invite you to visit the website and immerse yourself in the discovery of the Minimoog Model D—a true testament to the innovation and creativity of its creators.”

Knowing that Depeche Mode had recently lost a band member, Alan Wilder was fairly sure who he’d be auditioning for when he turned up at Blackwing studios in London in 1982. Not only would he bring strong vocals and top shelf keyboard chops to the band, the addition of Wilder to Depeche Mode in meant his Minimoog Model D would be coming along with him.

“(It) was my first synthesiser bought around 1977, pre-Mode, when I was a member of Dafne & The Tenderspots.” Wilder remembered. “It was a big deal for us at the time as it was quite expensive and we couldn’t really afford it until we secured our record deal. It added to my Wurlitzer electric piano and gave me a whole wealth of new sound possibilities.”

Having proved themselves as hitmakers since the departure of founder Vince Clarke, the band’s continued success brought them to Berlin’s legendary and palatial Hansa studios – home to some of David Bowie’s greatest records. For the track “People Are People,” co-producer Gareth Jones ran the Minimoog alongside an Arp 2600 to record its spikey bass lines. The results were , and the song not only broke the band in the U.S., but it also signaled Depeche Mode’s shift towards more industrial and experimental textures.

Even after he’d left the band, Wilder kept his Model D close for his solo work.

“The Minimoog is a machine I return to now because there are sounds in there I particularly like for a certain job. I use it for sequencer type basslines or for mid range parts — sort of bubbly synth sounds with a wide dynamic range, using velocity sensitivity.”
