Each facet of

was designed to bring visitors a joyful experience behind every digital door that leads to each new section of the site.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with multi-disciplinary, independently owned design studio

to bring this vision to life. Leading the project was Pentagram’s sound and experiential design visionary

, who we previously collaborated with on the

back in 2016 for that year’s Moogfest.

With a passion for Moog synthesizers and the brand's legacy, Yuri was the perfect partner to celebrate the Model D's cultural impact. He and the hardworking teams at Pentagram and Counterpoint helped create an experience that allows visitors all over the world to discover the deep history and sound of the Moog world.

“Working on this web project for the past two years has been an incredible journey, as Moog has always been my top fascination. Their synthesizers' special sound and beautiful design hold a special place in my heart. I still vividly remember our first discussion years ago where we envisioned a web experience that celebrates the Minimoog Model D. Our goal was to craft a tightly interactive and fun experience that would capture the essence of Dr. Bob Moog and his team’s groundbreaking innovation.

Throughout the project, the collaboration has been tight-knit and extremely enjoyable. We have exchanged numerous ideas on how to make the introduction of this beautiful innovation both fun and captivating. I am grateful to everyone involved in this project for their hard work and dedication.

I invite you to visit the website and immerse yourself in the discovery of the Minimoog Model D—a true testament to the innovation and creativity of its creators.”

Geoff Downes and Trevor Horn must have known they were on to something special as they marched around London from studio to studio perfecting "Video Killed the Radio Star."

“We were like a pair of nomads wandering around with our multitrack under our arm. If you look at the original 24-track recording, we did so many overdubs on it that the oxide had virtually come off it because we used to travel round to different studios and add bits and pieces here and there.”

At point in the production Downes decided to use his Minimoog Model D to come up with some horn lines to help carry the orchestration through the middle section of the track.

“I started to get into trying to emulate orchestral instruments and that was really how I started out. I’d use something like a sawtooth to get an oboe. Or a sine wave with slightly detuned oscillators with a slow attack time to get a horn sound when you put it through a delay, so it started me off on a whole episode of emulating orchestral instruments but also having your own stamp on things as well. It was heavily used on the Buggles stuff. It was really a great instrument for experimentation.”

When the track was used to kick off the launch of MTV two years later, the song literally heralded one of the biggest shifts in the music industry since Punk had safety-pinned itself onto the mid-70’s.

“The Buggles were really a groundbreaking concept, an electronic pop duo working towards the end of the seventies.”
