Each facet of

was designed to bring visitors a joyful experience behind every digital door that leads to each new section of the site.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with multi-disciplinary, independently owned design studio

to bring this vision to life. Leading the project was Pentagram’s sound and experiential design visionary

, who we previously collaborated with on the

back in 2016 for that year’s Moogfest.

With a passion for Moog synthesizers and the brand's legacy, Yuri was the perfect partner to celebrate the Model D's cultural impact. He and the hardworking teams at Pentagram and Counterpoint helped create an experience that allows visitors all over the world to discover the deep history and sound of the Moog world.

“Working on this web project for the past two years has been an incredible journey, as Moog has always been my top fascination. Their synthesizers' special sound and beautiful design hold a special place in my heart. I still vividly remember our first discussion years ago where we envisioned a web experience that celebrates the Minimoog Model D. Our goal was to craft a tightly interactive and fun experience that would capture the essence of Dr. Bob Moog and his team’s groundbreaking innovation.

Throughout the project, the collaboration has been tight-knit and extremely enjoyable. We have exchanged numerous ideas on how to make the introduction of this beautiful innovation both fun and captivating. I am grateful to everyone involved in this project for their hard work and dedication.

I invite you to visit the website and immerse yourself in the discovery of the Minimoog Model D—a true testament to the innovation and creativity of its creators.”

Sit back and watch the Minimoog in action. Grab your popcorn!

Sometime in early June 1971, Don Preston picked up the phone to hear a familiar voice on the other side of the line.

“I wasn’t even in The Mothers at that time. I got a call. I was living in New York, and I was playing with Gil Evans and I got a call from Frank and he said, ‘We’re playing at the Fillmore. Come on down and sit in.’ And I said, ‘Well, I have a new Minimoog.’ (And Frank) says, ‘Great, bring that along.’ So, I did.

Frank was none other than Frank Zappa, and when Preston turned up at the gig it turned out he wasn’t the evening’s only guest. Making a rare appearance as well, was John Lennon. Preston’s appearance would wind up making the ex-Beatle’s next solo album, “Some Time in New York City.”

Falling back into the Zappa camp for a spell afterwards, Preston’s came up with a particularly special solo on his Model D for the title track of Frank’s 1972 album “Waka/Jawaka.”

“I had taken a volume pedal and put a 9-volt battery in it, so I was able to control one of the aspects of the Minimoog with that, plus being able to turn knobs at the same time. So it was like I had three hands. mean I remember one time Bob Moog came to (musician and Moog distributor) Paul Beaver’s studio, and Paul played him (the) solo I did on ‘Waka/Jawaka.’ Bob listened to it and said, ‘That can’t be done!’” Preston recalls with a laugh. “So, that was kind of like a feather in my cap.”
